Filters & settings
A tour of the Positive EV filter tree — sportsbooks, the market hierarchy, leagues, odds, EV, vig, devig mode, sharp books, and date or game-status — and what each one narrows.
What the filters do
The Positive EV feed scans odds across 70+ sportsbooks, exchanges & DFS sites, which is far more than any one bettor can act on. The filters exist to cut that firehose down to the bets you can actually place, at the books you hold, in the markets you understand. Some filters restrict which bets appear; Devig Mode and Sharp Books also control how the fair price is estimated.
The filter tree
The filters sit in one panel and apply together. Each one targets a different part of a bet:
- Sportsbooks — restrict the feed to the books where you hold accounts. There is no point seeing an edge at a book you can't bet, and selecting a single book also unlocks the parlay builder.
- Leagues — limit the feed to specific leagues (NFL, NBA, the Premier League, and so on), so you only see sports you follow.
- Markets — select along the market hierarchy of Sport → Market Type → Market. You can include a whole Market Type (say, all player props in a sport) or drill down to one leaf Market. Selections stay scoped to their node — "all game lines" never reaches across sports.
- Odds — set a minimum and maximum book price. Longshots carry noisier fair prices, so capping the odds range trims the speculative tail of the feed.
- EV % — set the minimum expected value a bet must clear to appear, and an optional ceiling. Raising the floor hides marginal edges so only meaningful ones show; a ceiling helps you ignore suspiciously large numbers that usually signal a stale line.
- Max Vig % - defaults to 10%. Bets are hidden when the blended sharp prices have more than 10% vig. Very wide prices can make the fair-price estimate unreliable, even when an exchange really offers those odds. You can change or clear the limit; saved filters keep their chosen value.
- Devig Mode — choose the method used to strip the vig out of sharp odds (power, multiplicative, additive, probit, or worst). See Custom devig & sharp books.
- Sharp Books — choose which books anchor the fair price, weight them, and set how many must agree. This is the deepest filter; it has its own dedicated guide.
- Date Range — in pregame mode, limit to games starting within Today, 24 hours, 3 days, or 7 days. The feed never looks further out than seven days regardless.
- Game Status — in live mode, narrow to games that are actively in play or temporarily stopped (between innings, at a timeout). It has no effect in pregame mode.
Why Max Vig starts at 10%
Max Vig measures the margin in the combined sharp prices before devigging. For example, an exchange quoting both sides around -337 and -194 has about 43% vig. Removing that much margin can produce an inflated EV estimate. If those are the only contributing sharp prices, the default 10% limit keeps that market out of the feed.
The limit applies to the blended sharp prices, so it does not remove an individual book from the calculation. To exclude a particular reference book, use Sharp Books.
Settings vs filters
The settings dialog (the gear icon) holds preferences that shape how the feed behaves rather than which bets qualify — your odds format, whether to hide taken or correlated bets, the pregame refresh cadence, and which books appear in the embedded market view. Filters decide what shows; settings decide how it shows.
Save a filter set
Your sportsbook list and EV floor rarely change between sessions. Lean on the Recommended default to start, then narrow from there — the feed reacts as you go.
