Free, Premium and Fantasy: what's included

What you can use for free versus what the Premium and Fantasy plans unlock, covering tools, book coverage, and the free trial.

How access works

SmartStake sells two paid plans. Premium unlocks every tool. Fantasy unlocks the Fantasy tool on its own, for DFS pick'em players. A few things are usable for free without subscribing, and new accounts can try either plan on a free trial. Upgrading or letting a subscription lapse never costs you data: the Bet Tracker keeps your history either way.

What you can use for free

Without a subscription you can still use:

  • Standalone calculators: every calculator (arbitrage, EV, devig, Kelly, hold, free-bet, odds converter, and the prediction-market converter) is free to use and needs no account. See Calculators.
  • Odds Screen: the read-only cross-book odds grid for comparing prices at a glance. See Odds Screen.
  • Fantasy on Tuesdays: every signed-in account can use the Fantasy tool on Tuesdays.
  • Free trial: new accounts can try Premium or Fantasy for a few days at no cost (see below).

What Premium unlocks

Premium enables the live discovery tools and removes the restrictions on book coverage and devig controls:

  • Positive EV: the full +EV feed across all supported books, plus the full custom devig controls: your choice of devig mode (power, multiplicative, additive, probit, or worst) and the complete sharp-books menu with per-book weighting, required/optional flags, and min-sharps. The parlay builder is included.
  • Arbitrage Finder: the full arbitrage and middles feed across 70+ sportsbooks, exchanges, and DFS sites, including one-click links that open each leg directly in the relevant sportsbook.
  • Live Arb and Live EV: in-play mode for both the Arbitrage Finder and the Positive EV tool, where live odds update in near-real-time for some books and within about four seconds for others.
  • Smart Money: the sharp-money signal tool, which reads exchange order-book depth across 6 exchanges to flag where liquidity is moving.
  • Insiders: picks and wallet data attributed to qualified Polymarket and Kalshi sharp wallets, with confidence scores and a browsable wallet leaderboard.
  • Lineup Dropper: a live MLB lineup wire that flags the markets an official lineup change touches. See Lineup Dropper.
  • Fantasy: the DFS optimizer and betslip builder (Power and Flex slips) with the same fair-value devig math as Positive EV.
  • Promo Converter: the full guided workflow for converting sportsbook promos into hedged bets that aim to retain most of the bonus value.
  • Alerts: push notifications from your saved Positive EV and Arbitrage filters, plus Fantasy Alerts. See Saved filters and alerts.

Premium also includes everything the Fantasy plan does.

What Fantasy unlocks

Fantasy is a separate plan for players who only want the Fantasy tool:

  • The Fantasy tool: the whole Fantasy board, with the SmartStake Line and your own Custom model, Power and Flex slip building, the expanded pick comparison with main line history, and the Smart Money picks the board mixes in. See Fantasy optimizer overview.
  • Fantasy Alerts: up to two alerts that notify you when a slip has enough picks clearing its breakeven. See Saved filters and alerts.
  • Closing line value on your own wagers, including CLV mode in the Bet Tracker.
  • Promo Recommender with every book unlocked.
  • Taking a bet from the Odds Screen: adding a price to the Bet Tracker from the bet details panel.
  • The subscriber dashboard.

Fantasy does not include Positive EV, the Arbitrage Finder, the Promo Converter, the standalone Smart Money tool, Insiders, or Lineup Dropper, nor the alerts and live feeds that belong to them. Opening one of those on a Fantasy plan shows an offer to upgrade to Premium, which changes your Fantasy plan into Premium rather than adding a second subscription.

The free trial

New accounts verified on or after 3 October 2025 that have never held a SmartStake subscription are eligible for a 5-day free trial of Premium or Fantasy. There is one trial per account across both plans, so a Fantasy trial is not followed by a Premium trial. When you are eligible, the trial offer appears on the upgrade screen in place of the standard purchase button. Accounts verified before that date, or that have held any plan before, are not eligible.

Choosing a plan

Premium is sold with monthly or yearly billing, and the yearly plan saves a percentage compared with monthly billing; the exact savings are shown on the pricing page. Fantasy is $49 a month billed monthly, or $499 billed yearly. Picking Fantasy on the pricing page carries that choice, and its billing period, through sign-in and account setup to a Fantasy checkout page.

If you only play DFS pick'em, Fantasy covers the Fantasy tool. If you want any other tool, choose Premium: it already includes Fantasy, so you never need both. A Fantasy subscriber can upgrade to Premium in place at any time; there is no downgrade from Premium to Fantasy, so moving the other way means cancelling Premium and subscribing to Fantasy once Premium ends.
