Bookmaker selection & order

How to choose which books appear in the Market View grids and how to drag them into the order you want, separately from the per-tool active-books filter.

Two separate book settings

SmartStake keeps two distinct book preferences, and it helps to know which is which before changing either.

The first is your active books list — the sportsbooks where you hold funded accounts. It is set in Choosing your sportsbooks and controls which bets appear in the Positive EV, Arbitrage, Smart Money, and Insiders feeds. A recommendation only surfaces at a book that is in your active list.

The second is the Market View book selection and order, which this page covers. It controls which books appear in the Market View odds grid embedded inside every bet card, and the left-to-right sequence of their columns. This setting is a display preference: it does not filter which bets you see in the feed, only how the odds grid is laid out when you open a card to inspect it. The same order also applies in the Odds Screen as the default column sequence and in the Line History chart's default book toggle list, which reads from a separate lineHistoryBooks preference you can adjust independently.

Choosing which books appear in the Market View

Your Market View book selection is a subset of your active books list. If you leave it empty, all of your active books appear in the Market View. If you select a specific subset, only those books appear in the grid — the others are hidden from the odds comparison even if they are in your active list.

To change the selection, open any tool's settings panel and look for the Active Books or Market View Books control. Checking or unchecking a book there updates which books contribute columns to the Market View grid across all tools simultaneously. The setting is stored in your account preferences and applies across sessions.

Reordering books with the Bookmaker Order modal

The order of book columns in the Market View is set separately from which books are selected. An ArrowUpDown button appears in the toolbar of each tool that embeds a Market View — including Positive EV, Arbitrage, Smart Money, and their mobile drawers. Clicking it opens the Bookmaker Order modal.

Inside the modal, every book currently in your Market View selection appears as a draggable tile. On desktop they are arranged in a horizontal scrollable row; on mobile they stack vertically with a grip handle on the left. Drag a tile to a new position and the preview updates live. When you close the modal without saving, a discard-alert dialog asks you to confirm, so accidental re-orders do not overwrite your saved arrangement.

The modal footer has three controls:

  • Reset — reverts the draft back to your last saved order. Enabled only when you have unsaved changes.
  • Reset A-Z — sorts all books alphabetically. Useful when your list has grown and you want a neutral starting point before making deliberate adjustments.
  • Save — writes the new order to your preferences and closes the modal.

The saved order is stored as marketViewOrder in your account preferences. Any book in your Market View selection that has not been explicitly positioned falls to the end of the grid, sorted alphabetically, so newly added books do not disrupt your existing arrangement.

Why order matters

Books you check most often when comparing odds should sit on the left, where they are visible without scrolling. If you care primarily about Pinnacle as a sharp reference and DraftKings and FanDuel as your main wagering books, putting those three first means the data you need is always in frame. Books you rarely act on can sit further right — they are still in the grid and still contribute to the Average and Best summary columns, but they are not taking up prime real estate.

Put your wagering books first

Set your most-used sportsbooks as the leftmost columns. On smaller screens or narrow card widths, the Market View may not show every column without horizontal scrolling, so the books you act on most should be immediately visible.

Odds Screen and Line History

The Odds Screen manages its own column order separately: you can drag column headers directly in the grid and then choose Save Order in the column menu to persist that arrangement as oddsScreenBooks. That saved order is specific to the Odds Screen and does not overwrite the marketViewOrder used by the bet-card grids.

Line History has its own book preference (lineHistoryBooks) that controls which books are toggled on by default when the chart opens. You can adjust it in settings. Whatever book a bet card originated from is always added to the chart's toggle row regardless of this setting.

For broader context on how your book list drives feed results, see Choosing your sportsbooks. For how the Market View grid itself works, see Market View.

  • Odds, prices, expected value, conversion rates, and profit figures shown are estimates based on the last data we retrieved. They can change at any time — confirm the current price at the book before you bet, as odds may move and entry errors can occur.
  • Using a “sharp” book as a fair-value reference is a modeling choice, not a statement of accuracy. Review a book’s record yourself and anchor on the books you trust.
