Advanced

Advanced is the full-screen page for one market - the bet's price, fair odds and EV in the header, a large line history chart, every sportsbook's price, and panels for liquidity, EV and vig, with the tool's other bets one click away.

What Advanced is

Advanced is a full-screen page for one two-way market, laid out for a desktop screen and rearranged for a phone. It takes the bet you were looking at in a tool and lays out everything about its market at once: the price and the fair price, how every book's line has moved, what every book is offering now, exchange liquidity, and the vig. The whole page stays on the bet you chose; you look at it from different angles rather than navigating away.

Each Advanced page is a link to one side of one market at one book, so you can bookmark it, reopen it later, or send it to someone.

Opening Advanced

On a screen 1024px or wider, expand a bet in a bet tool and press Advanced. The button sits on the expanded bet in Positive EV, Arbitrage, the Promo Converter, Smart Money, Insiders, Fantasy, and the Odds Screen bet details. Advanced opens for anyone with access to the tool it is opened from.

A matched bet - an arbitrage, a promo conversion, or a middle - has two legs at two books, so its Advanced button opens a short list first. Pick the leg you want to look at, and Advanced opens on that leg.

Tapping a Positive EV push notification also opens the bet on Advanced, on a phone as well as a desktop browser; an Arbitrage one does on a desktop browser.

The layout

The page is split into panels:

  • The header across the top of the centre panel: the bet, its price and the numbers that matter most.
  • The line history chart below it, with buttons to take the bet and tabs to switch the side the chart shows.
  • Sportsbooks under the chart: every book's current price for this market.
  • Market details on the right: the game, then a stack of panels on liquidity, EV and vig.
  • The tool's bets on the left, when you opened Advanced from a tool that has a list of bets.
  • A bottom bar about the bet: the way back, the bet's state, the chart credit and the theme.

The left list, the Market details panel and the Sportsbooks panel can each be collapsed to give the chart more room.

The header

The header reads left to right:

  • Book and selection - the sportsbook's icon and the side you chose, such as a team, a total, or a player's line.
  • Alt - a badge when this is an alternate line at that book rather than its main line. See Alternate lines for the difference.
  • EV - the expected value of the bet at that price, green when positive and red when negative.
  • Fair - SmartStake's no-vig estimate of the fair price for this side.
  • Vig - the margin in that book's own two-way market, from its price on both sides.
  • Best at - when another book is offering a better price on the same side, its icon and price. It is hidden when the book you chose already has the best price.
  • Pinnacle Limit - the most Pinnacle currently accepts on this side, beside the Pinnacle icon. It shows whenever Pinnacle reports a limit for the line, whichever sharp books you use, and is hidden when it does not.
  • Odds - at the far right, that book's current price in your odds format. When the book has a link, a green arrow sits beside it and clicking the price opens the sportsbook's bet slip.

Advanced prices the bet itself, fresh from both sides' current prices, with the pricing source chosen in the EV panel. Opened from Positive EV it starts on the Positive EV filter you are using, and opened from Fantasy on your Fantasy filter; from any other tool it starts on SmartStake's default sharp books. Because the price is fresh, the EV here can differ from the number the tool showed, and it can be negative once the market has moved. A bet that is no longer on the tool's board still opens and is still priced. When the market cannot be priced, the header shows a dash for the fair price and leaves out the EV, and the EV panel says why.

Below the header, the side tabs sit on the left and two buttons on the right: Add bet adds this bet at this book's price to your Bet Tracker, and Report bet flags a wrong price or market to us. Opened from Positive EV, Add bet opens Positive EV's own take flow; opened from any other tool, the Odds Screen, or a shared link, it opens the standard Add Bet form.

The line history chart

The chart is SmartStake's line history chart, larger: each book's price on the side selected in the tabs above it, against the fair line priced with the page's pricing source, with the gap shaded green while the bet is +EV. That page covers reading it, the price tags, highlighting a book, the legend, ranges, panning and zooming, and the markers.

On Advanced it adds full screen: the expand button at the bottom right of the chart folds away the bets on the left, the market details on the right and the panel below, so the chart fills the screen with the bet's header still above it. Press it again or Esc to bring them back.

The two tabs above the chart, one per side of the market, change only which side the chart shows. The header, the panels and the link all stay on the bet you chose, and the chart returns to that side whenever you choose another bet.

Sportsbooks

The Sportsbooks tab under the chart is the Market View for this exact line: every book's current price on both sides, with the sharp books grouped together. Where a book quotes both sides, a calculator icon on its row opens the EV calculator at that book's prices.

Opened from Fantasy on a player line, the panel adds two tabs beside Sportsbooks: Comparison lines and Main line history. See Comparison lines and market history for how to read them.

Market details

The right panel opens with the game: the event, the sport and league, the market, and the start time. When you are signed in and the game is live, the start time gives way to the live score and game state, with the same sport-by-sport live details the tools show (see Live game status).

Below the game sit the panels, each with its title on the left and, on the right, an options menu (only on panels that have options) and a chevron.

Compact and expanded

Every panel has a compact form that keeps the same size and shape from bet to bet, so the panels stay in the same place as you move through a list of bets. When a market has too little data for a panel, its compact form shows a one-line note instead. Press the chevron to expand a panel and see its detail below; press it again to fold it back. Advanced remembers which panels you expanded on this device and keeps them expanded on the next bet.

Liquidity

Liquidity reads the exchange order books for this market, for pregame markets. On a live market it shows a note instead.

  • Compact: Hedge-eligible is the other side's exchange liquidity that this book's price can be hedged against. It matches Smart Money's Opp. Liq when the bet, exchanges and data match. This side and Other side show each selection's total liquidity, followed by its best available price and the exchanges offering it.
  • Expanded: each selection has its own full ladder, best odds first. Prices are always the actual odds for the selection named above the chart. Green bars mark hedge-eligible liquidity on the other side. Both charts use the same scale, so equal-width bars represent equal amounts.

Every price level with available liquidity is included. Scroll a ladder to see deeper levels. Hover over a bar, or tap it on your phone, to see each exchange's contribution. For how to read exchange depth, see Reading the liquidity depth.

The options menu (the three dots) chooses which exchanges Liquidity counts. The default is Novig, ProphetX and Kalshi; your saved exchange choices are kept. Uncheck any you do not want, or choose Count every exchange. At least one exchange always stays checked. Signed in, your choice is saved to your account; signed out, it lasts for the visit. It changes only the Liquidity panel on Advanced.

EV

The EV panel names what it is priced with, under its title.

  • Compact: the Fair odds, the EV of the bet you chose, and the Vig of the sharp market with the devig method beside it. Below them, the three books with the best EV on this side, each with its price and EV; the book you chose is in bold.
  • Expanded: the rest of the books on this side, then the sharp books behind the fair price, each with its weight in the estimate and its price on both sides.

The options menu (the three dots) chooses what the whole page is priced with - the EV panel, the header, the chart's fair line, and the EV and stake when you add the bet:

  • SmartStake default - SmartStake's default sharp books, led by Pinnacle. This is where Advanced starts when you open it from Arbitrage, the Promo Converter, Smart Money, Insiders, the Odds Screen or a shared link.
  • Positive EV filters - each of your saved Positive EV filters, with your default marked, priced with its sharp books, devig method and Max Vig. Opened from Positive EV, Advanced starts on the filter you are using there or in the list on the left, so changing that filter moves the price; if you have edited it without saving, it is offered as Current filter. Without one in use, it starts on your saved default.
  • Fantasy filters - when you opened Advanced from Fantasy, each of your saved Fantasy filters and the one you are using, priced the way the Fantasy board would price it: a Default model by the SmartStake Line, a Custom model by its sharp books, devig method, max vig per book and Min Sharps. Under the SmartStake Line the panel shows the win probability instead of the vig, and the chart has no fair line. On a pick'em app with a slip chosen in Fantasy, the EV is against that slip's break-even.

Your choice stays as you move between bets in the list on the left, until you leave Advanced; it is not saved to your account. Signed out, or with no saved filters, Advanced always uses SmartStake default and the menu is hidden.

See Devigging & fair value for how the fair price is built.

Vig and arbitrage

  • Compact: Vig at best prices - the combined vig of the best sportsbook price on each side. When those two best prices cross, it reads Arb at best prices instead, in green, with the margin they cross by. Beside it, Lowest at one book is the lowest vig any single book is charging on this market. Below, the best price on each side and the book offering it.
  • Expanded: Vig at each book - every book's price on both sides and the vig it charges.

Fantasy apps are left out of this panel. Prices move quickly and books can limit or void bets, so an arb reading here is a starting point to check at the books, not a locked-in result. See Arbitrage.

Insiders

The Insiders panel appears when you open Advanced from Insiders. Compact, it shows the total insider stake, the number of positions, and how much is on this side; expanded, it lists the positions. See What Insiders is.

SmartStake Line

On a player line opened from Fantasy, the SmartStake Line panel shows its win probability for your pick and the fair odds at the pick's line. See Fantasy devig source.

The tool's bets

When you open Advanced from a tool, the left panel lists that tool's bets under its active filters, less the ones its board hides. Each row shows the selection, the market and start time, the books, and the tool's headline number, such as EV for Positive EV or the margin for Arbitrage. The bet you are looking at is highlighted. Click another row and Advanced switches to that bet in place.

Arbitrage and Promo Converter rows name both legs compactly - when both legs are the same player or line, the row names it once, as in "LeBron James Over/Under 5" - and show both books' icons. Pressing one opens the same short list as the Advanced button, so you choose which leg to show. The row stays highlighted whichever of its legs you are on.

Collapse the list to a column of book icons when you want more room; hover an icon for the bet and its number.

The foot of the list holds its controls. The play and pause button stops the list where it is and starts it again, as it does on the tool's board, and Space does the same. Beside it the foot names the list's board, Pre-game or Live: on Positive EV and Arbitrage the list shows the board of the bet you opened, and the other tools have one board (Insiders mixes live and pre-game bets, so its foot names none). The filter button on the right shows the active filter's name when you hover it; press it to open the tool's filters, and the list follows your changes. To see another tool's bets, go back to that tool and open a bet from there.

The Odds Screen has no list of bets, so Advanced opened from it shows the bet on its own, with Back to Odds Screen in the bottom bar. Going back returns you to the search you left.

The bottom bar

The bottom bar is about the bet and the page, not the tool:

  • The way back - back to the tool you came from, or to the app. On a link opened outside the app, the SmartStake link, and Try SmartStake when you are signed out.
  • The bet's state - Pre-game or Live.
  • Charts by TradingView - the credit for the line history chart.
  • Theme - light, dark, or your system's setting.

Sharing is not offered right now, but links that were already shared still open. A shared link freezes the bet as it was when it was shared: the book, its price, the fair odds and the EV, priced with SmartStake's default sharp books. Anyone who opens it, with or without an account, sees that snapshot beside the live market, marked with when it was shared. Once the side is no longer quoted, for example after the game, the link shows the snapshot on its own.

Anyone can open an Advanced link. Signed out, it opens outside the app with no list of bets, the same as a bet opened from the Odds Screen, priced with SmartStake's default sharp books, and Add bet and Report bet ask you to sign in first, then bring you back to the same bet.

On a phone

Below 1024px, Advanced keeps the same bet and the same prices in a layout for a phone. The top shows the bet the way a bet tool shows an inspected bet: its EV, its odds (tap them to go to the sportsbook), Add bet and Report bet, the fair odds, the book's vig, the best price when another book beats it, the Pinnacle limit and the recommended stake, and the game. The way back is at the top left. Below that are three tabs:

  • Line history - the chart for the side you chose, the tab Advanced opens on.
  • Sportsbooks - every book's current price, the Market View.
  • Details - liquidity, EV, vig and arbitrage, and any panels from the tool you came from, one under another.

A bet that cannot be priced still opens, with no EV and a note saying why; a bet no sportsbook is quoting shows a message saying so.

An Arbitrage link opens Arbitrage's full-screen card with both legs, priced from both books' current prices. If the prices no longer cross, the card is greyed with its now-negative margin; if a sportsbook has stopped offering a leg, it says which one.
