Learn about all the different ways you can turn the inefficient market of sports betting into opportunities for profit.
A step-by-step guide showing you how to use the SmartStake Arbitrage Finder to locate and act on arbitrage betting opportunities.

In SmartStake's foundational guide, "A Guide to Sportsbook Arbitrage," SmartStake broke down the math behind arbitrage: placing proportional bets on the outcomes of an event across different sportsbooks to try to take advantage of odds discrepancies. Execution risk, line movement, and user error mean that calculated margins are never guaranteed.
Theory is the foundation, but execution is key. That guide covered the "why." This guide walks you through the SmartStake Arbitrage Finder — a tool for surfacing market inefficiencies as they appear.
Please note: Screenshots in this guide are illustrative examples and do not represent any individual user's results. Arbitrage betting is not risk free — odds can change between placements, sportsbooks can void bets, and user error can occur. Results vary and are never guaranteed. Only use disposable income. SmartStake is not affiliated with any sportsbook.
When you open the Arbitrage Finder, you're looking at your real-time gateway to market opportunities. This is where the heavy lifting is done for you.

Hit "Find Bets," and the tool quickly scans over 80 sportsbooks, presenting available arbitrage opportunities. Let's break down what you're seeing.
Each card on the dashboard represents a matched pair of bets. Here’s a closer look at the information provided:

Projected Profit: This percentage shows the calculated margin. A margin of 4.87% means that for every $100 staked in total across both bets, the calculated return is $4.87 — assuming odds don't change between placements, both bets are accepted, and there is no user error. For a detailed breakdown of the math, refer to SmartStake's introductory guide.
Bet Data: This section provides the details for each side of the bet: the event, market, bookmaker, and current odds.
Bet Amount: This shows the recommended amount to wager on each side. You can set a default stake for one side in the filters at the top. The tool then calculates the recommended stake for the opposing bet so that, if both bets are accepted at the listed odds, the payout is similar regardless of which side wins.
To act quickly, SmartStake provides direct links to the sportsbooks. For books that support it, clicking the link will take you straight to the event page or even add the selection to your bet slip. If links are available for both sides, the dual link button can be helpful.

Clicking it opens both sportsbook pages in new tabs simultaneously. Note: You may need to allow pop-ups in your browser for this feature to work correctly.

The action buttons on each card give you full control over your betting workflow.
Bet Calculator: Odds can change quickly. If a line moves before you can place your bet, open the calculator. You can input the new odds to see the updated calculated margin and recommended stakes. It is also useful for hedging: if you've placed one bet and the other line moves, the calculator will show the recommended stake to work toward locking in the calculated margin. Actual margins are not guaranteed — odds can change between placements.

Track Bet: Once you've placed your wagers, click here to add the arb to your Bet Tracker. Meticulous record-keeping is essential for monitoring your profits and managing your bankroll.
Math Explainer: For those who want to see the work, this button reveals the precise numbers and formulas used in the arbitrage calculation.
Odds Table: Clicking the table icon reveals the odds for this market across the other sportsbooks SmartStake tracks. If a line moves on one book, you can use this table to quickly check whether the arb math may still be available with a different bookmaker.

Hide Bet: Once you've placed an arb or if the opportunity disappears, click the eye icon to hide the bet from your feed, keeping your dashboard clean and focused on actionable opportunities.
The filters at the top of the page allow you to customize the tool to fit your specific needs.

Here you can adjust your default bet size, filter by specific leagues, markets and date ranges.
By default, the tool shows opportunities from all bookmakers available in your region. To tailor this to your accounts, click the bookmakers dropdown.

The list is separated into "Your Opened Books" and "Unopened Books." You can deselect any books you don't have an account with to see only the arbs you can actually place. Click the "Save" button to store your selections for future sessions.
The three-dot menu in the top-right corner offers a few more settings to personalize your experience.

Here, you can change your preferred odds format (American, Decimal, etc.) and toggle the visibility of bets you've previously hidden.
If you ever need a refresher, the question mark icon will pull up relevant guides and articles for the tool.

The theory of arbitrage betting is straightforward, but the manual process of scanning dozens of sportsbooks and performing calculations is not. By the time you find a candidate edge, it may already be gone.
The SmartStake Arbitrage Finder automates the discovery process. It scans the market continuously so you can focus on evaluating and executing the bets. Opportunities surface and close quickly; execution risk, line movement, sportsbook bet limits, and user error mean calculated margins are not guaranteed.
